Andrew Shore dazzles the audience and critics as Bartolo for ENO

Andrew Shore has returned to the London Coliseum to repeat his virtuoso comic performance as the irascible Dr Bartolo in the latest revival of Jonathan Miller’s production of The Barber of Seville for English National Opera. He received a rapturous response from the audience at the first night and this Times review is typical of the critical response to his performance:

After he finishes the ENO run Andrew Shore will complete the season with Alberich for the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Death in Venice in Deborah Warner’s production for ENO and the Amsterdam Festival and the other Dr Bartolo (Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro) in concert with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Ivan Fischer for the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center New York and in Berlin.
