Katarina Karnéus returns to Wigmore Hall

Swedish mezzo-soprano Katarina Karnéus, always a great favourite in the UK since taking first prize in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World in 1995, returns to give a recital in Wigmore Hall on Sunday evening October 12th. She will be partnered by the celebrated young pianist Joseph Middleton and they will present a fascinating programme under the title ‘Northern Lights’. This will feature songs by Schumann, Brahms, Berlioz, Saint-Saens and Delius, and will open and close with rarely heard Scandinavian songs of great beauty by Nystroem, Koch and Peterson-Berger.

Karnéus is currently singing Brangäne in a new production of Tristan und Isolde at the Staatstheater Stuttgart and will return to London on November 28th to sing Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen in the Barbican with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marc Minkowski.
