Ryan Wigglesworth named as artist in association with the Hallé

The Hallé has announced the appointment of Ryan Wigglesworth as Artist in Association.

As Artist in Association, Wigglesworth’s own music will be programmed in his annual conducting engagement with the Hallé. In addition, each season, he will present either a major commission or a series of smaller commissions. Wigglesworth will also feature as a solo pianist in Hallé performances, both with the full orchestra and smaller ensembles, at Bridgewater Hall and the newly re-opened Hallé St Peter’s.

John Summers said “We are pleased to continue our relationship with Ryan and be able to showcase his multi-faceted talent. It’s rare to find a musician who has such an affinity with a broad range of music, not just his own.”

Ryan Wigglesworth said “I’m delighted to be taking up this new role with the Hallé, an orchestra very close to my heart. I’ve enjoyed working with the musicians immensely over the past few years and am looking forward to many more wonderful concerts with them.”

The start of this new role began with Ryan Wigglesworth conducting his own composition Locke’s Theatre with the Hallé on Thursday 31 October in programme that also saw him join pianist Paul Lewis for a performance of Mozart’s Concerto for Two Piano.
