
Ryan Wigglesworth widely featured in 2020 Aldeburgh Festival
04.02.20Ryan Wigglesworth will give five concerts in the 2020 Aldeburgh Festival as conductor, pianist and composer. He will open the Festival with the Britten Sinfonia on June 12 in Bury St Edmunds Cathedral with the Britten Sinfonia.
On June 18 he will conduct the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra in a programme featuring Birtwistle’ s Deep Time and his own arrangement of music from Götterdämmerung – a Symphonic Journey – with Rachel Nicholls as soloist in Brünnhilde’s Immolation.
On June 19 he will give a recital with soprano Sophie Bevan in a programme including his own Till Dawning and Messiaen’s Poèmes pour mi.
On June 26 he will present two concerts with the Knussen Chamber Orchestra, which he formed for last year’s Aldeburgh Festival and subsequently presented at the 2019 Proms, in music by Mozart, Messiaen and Carter.
