The opera, which premiered at the 2012 Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and is directed by Katie Mitchell, features two Ingpen artists Victoria Simmonds and Allan Clayton.
The story is a contemporary twist on a 12th-century Occitan legend about the troubadour Guillaume de Cabestanh. Allan Clayton and Victoria Simmonds play the roles of the mysterious 21st-century angels who watch over the enfolding drama.
There are further performances at the Royal Opera House on 16, 18 and 22 March. The opera will then go on to tour to several other opera houses in Europe including Theater an der Wien, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and Opéra Comique Paris.
