Sir Mark Elder and Graham Clark in opening weekend of Glyndebourne 2013

The Glyndebourne Festival will present Verdi’s Falstaff on Sunday May 19th, on the second day of the 2013 season. Sir Mark Elder will conduct and Graham Clark will sing the role of Dr Caius. This will be the first revival of Richard Jones’ production, first seen in Glyndebourne in 2009 and will be notable for the fact that Sir Mark will be conducting The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, rather than the LPO who played for the original production. Sir Mark has been exploring the Italian operatic repertoire with the OAE for may years both in live performance and on record for Opera Rara, but this is the first time they will have collaborated on a Verdi opera in Glyndebourne.
