WNO Music Director Lothar Koenigs in the Limelight
31.05.13The opening night of Welsh National Opera’s new production of Lohengrin at the Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff on May 23 was a triumph for conductor Lothar Koenigs. There has been a string of five star reviews, all of which have singled out Koenigs’ command of his WNO forces in the first production of this work by the company for over fifty years. Koenigs and WNO were subsequently heavily featured on BBC Radio 3 over the following weekend: their equally successful Lulu production from earlier this season was broadcast on Saturday evening May 25 and the second performance of Lohengrin was broadcast live on Sunday afternoon May 26.
