Ivor Bolton appointed Music Director of Madrid's Teatro Real

Ivor Bolton has been announced as Music Director of the Teatro Real Madrid, with effect from the 2015/16 season. He is currently in Madrid rehearsing a new production of Gluck’s Alceste, which opens on February 27 and will return in September 2014 for Le nozze di Figaro. His past engagements in the house include Jenufa (available on DVD) and Beethoven’s Leonore in concert. He very much looks forward to working in close collaboration with the Teatro Real’s new Artistic Director Joan Matabosch.

Ivor Bolton continues his long association with  the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg as Chief Conductor, and guest opera engagements in the next few seasons will take him to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, the Zürich Opera and the Netherlands Opera.
