23.04.15We are delighted to announce that a host of our artists are involved in this year’s BBC Proms:
Saturday 25 July: Hilary Summers sings a selection of contemporary music with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group conducted by Franck Ollu as part of the BBC Chamber Proms at Cadogan Hall (afternoon concert). The full programme is Pierre BOULEZ (arr Schöllhorn): Notations (one or two short mvts) (UK premiere); Joanna LEE: New work (BBC Commission: world premiere); Betsy JOLAS: Wanderlied (UK Premiere); Shiori USUI: New work (BBC Commission: world premiere) and Pierre BOULEZ: Dérive II
Thursday 30 July: Sir Mark Elder conducts the Hallé at their annual Prom in a programme of Debussy Prelude à l’après midi d’un faune, Vaughan Williams Sancta Civitas – The Holy City and Elgar Symphony No. 2 in E flat
Thursday 06 August: Lawrence Power performs Turnage’s On Opened Ground with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Oliver Knussen
Saturday 08 August: Sir Mark Elder returns to conduct the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain at their annual Prom in a programme featuring a special commission by Tansy Davies and Mahler’s Symphony No. 9
Wednesday 12 August: Marc-André Hamelin performs Ravel’s Piano Concerto for Left Hand with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Francois-Xavier Roth
Sunday 16 August: Jack Liebeck will perform as part of the Sherlock Holmes Prom at the Royal Albert Hall
Tuesday 18 August: Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra return to the Proms with a programme of Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1, Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Cello, Piano and Orchestra in C, and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4. Maestro Barenboim will be the piano soloist for the Beethoven Concerto
Friday 21 August: Roderick Williams returns to the Proms after his triumph at the Last Night last year to sing in a late-night Prom with the Academy of Ancient Music conducted by David Hill in a programme of Bach Mass in G minor and Bach Magnificat in D major
Friday 11 September: Roderick Williams returns to sing in Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. The other soloists will be Magdalena Kozena and Toby Spence
