Sir Mark Elder CH CBE Appointed Music Director of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia
24.01.25The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia has appointed Sir Mark Elder as Music Director with effect from the 2025/26 season.
In the first season he will conduct two opera productions and two concert programmes, and from 2026/27 this will increase to three concert programmes. The contract will be for two years with an option for a two year extension. Sir Mark first worked with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valencia in 2022, and has established a very strong rapport with the orchestra and the Valencia public in repertoire including Mahler 6, Shostakovich 4 and Ein Heldenleben.
His first season will mark the twentieth anniversary of Les Arts.
